On Thursday 23 January, the ‘Together 4 Better’ Digital Business Awards were presented for the second time. This took place during the Copper and Nursery Day in Bleiswijk, which was organised by Floricode. Two awards were presented: the ‘Together 4 Better’ Digital Business Award for the grower who has performed best in digital business in the past year. Amigo Plant was the winner of this award. In addition, the ‘Together 4 Better’ Digital Growing Star was presented to the grower who has made the biggest steps in handling orders digitally in 2013, which was won by Tim van Leeuwen.
Criteria for winning the ´Together 4 Better´ Digital Business Award are the continuity of performance in 2013 in the areas of percentage of digital orders, reliability, number of order lines and size of the assortment. Based on these criteria, three growers were nominated: Amigo Plant, Handelskwekerij van der Velden and SV.CO. The trade jury, consisting of a delegation of Hamiplant, Javadoplant, Noviflora and Vida Verde, gave the final verdict.
Peter Kap of Javadoplant announced during the Copper and Nursery Day that the big challenge trophy of the ‘Together 4 Better’ Digital Business Award went to Amigo Plant. Amigo Plant has a very wide range of products and has shown in the past year that it is able to handle orders digitally to a high degree. Jacco Huibers, who accepted the award on behalf of Amigo Plant, was very proud and had a brief word of thanks: “This is a beautiful award and an appreciation for the correct digital handling of our orders with the customers. The great steps we have made in recent years are largely due to the ‘Together 4 Better’ project and our software supplier. In addition to an increase in digital ordering, we have also implemented the Label Message and we will also be working with the GTIN coding.”

The ‘Together 4 Better’ Digital Growing Star went to Tim van Leeuwen, who has made great strides in digital business in the past year. The jury looked at the growth in percentages, but also at the development in the number of buyers with whom digital business is conducted. The other nominees were Kwekerij Bloemendaal and van Drunen & Zn. BV. On behalf of Tim van Leeuwen Nursery, John van Uffelen received the challenge trophy from René Vellekoop of Hamiplant. René Vellekoop: “My compliments to the nominees, who have picked up digital business in a short period of time. The nomination of the Bloemendaal tree nursery is also worthy of mention. This nomination shows that tree nurseries are increasingly able to process orders digitally.
The ‘Together 4 Better’ project started in 2011 and consists of four exporters (Hamiplant, Javadoplant, Noviflora and Vida Verde), 163 growers, Plantform, Greenport Logistics and FloraHolland. One of the ways in which this will be achieved is by realising a uniform electronic ordering method in the direct plant flows. As of 2014, the cooperation with Floricode and ‘Together 4 Better’ will be intensified, so that more and more companies in the Plant Chain will be eligible for this award.
